Not Your Mother's® Beach Babe™ Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

Via Walmart

Lately, I've been trying out Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Spray. What I really like about this Beach Babe is that it allows me to add texture to my hair without the use of heat. But just to let you know, if you're going to spray your hair like crazy, just in case I would sure you use a good hair moisturizer or conditioner beforehand especially if you have dry hair. If your hair tends to be on the oily side like mine you should be ok. Other than that, it smells beachy and worked for me.

However, I do have one complaint. I did a preliminary report on EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetic Database and unfortunately it scored a five. I tend to only use items with a score of two or less. One big factor for this score is the fragrance since it is not known whether natural or synthetic ingredients are used for the fragrance part if the product. Depending on this, the score could in reality be lower, but idk. There are also a few ingredients that I think could be omitted from the product.

Bonus: For those who are concerned about animal testing - Not Your Mother's claims that it does not test on animal and that they ..."do not claim this statement on our packing though, because we are currently in the process of registering for all legal and official certifications and logos to go on the packaging and in our company literature." This is definitely an added bonus.

Do I recommend it? Yes if you don't give a care about ingredients and what not. And sure I guess, if you are ok with a Skin Deep score of five which is in the average zone.

Product received complimentary for testing & review purposes from Influenster.

Organic Beauty

These past couple of months I have been slowly migrating to the use of natural products. It's just something that I simply decided one day. Honestly, I didn't care that my beauty products contained parabens and all that other junk, I just didn't. Well, after some research I was surprised to find that certain ingredients such as oxybenzone are banned in certain countries. In case you are wondering, oxybenzone is used in many sunscreens as the main ingredient, however not that many people know that is was labeled as the most powerful free radical generator know to man. A free radical that speeds up the aging process. Thanks but no thanks.

I know I might not be able to completely go paraben free, but I am doing what I can. I also know that products labeled as 'natural' or 'organic' aren't always as they claim to be. What I have noticed from switching a few products here and there is that my skin looks healthier to the point were I can bare it all and not be self conscious about it. I have made it my choice to used to safe organic beauty products, and to be honest it wasn't easy at first but it's definitely worth it.

I've been crazily pinning, hence the lack of activity.
